Five Minute Friday {rest}

Linking up with The Gypsy Mama this week for Five Minute Friday, where she asks us to simply write for five minutes straight- no editing, no thinking or fretting. Just writing.
So many times, the things we feel cause us stress, cause us to rush are the very things God wants us to find His rest in.
The sound of our children making messes in the midst of play, the sound of our husbands coming in the front door from work, the task of cooking a warm meal for our families.
Why stress over these blessings? Especially when some of them are so fleeting.
Our children won’t always be there to make messes. Rest in this moment of mess.
Our husbands may not always walk through the door after work. Rest in this moment and don’t rush.
We are blessed to have families to cook and provide nourishment for. Rest in this moment of joy.

Stop rushing and worrying and fretting. Rest.
And when life isn’t able to give us rest, when things are difficult, trials make waves in our sea of days, we can run to where there is ultimate rest. God is our place of peace. A sovereign, firm place to go and find it- rest.

  2. Visiting from Five Minute Friday today…My first time playing along and I am loving reading some of these entries. Each one is like a little pep talk I needed to hear : ) My girls are grown so I understand the fleeting nature of those early parenting years very well. Have a nice weekend!
